Your Affiliate Program Sucks

Thanks for visiting the Affiliate Tip blog. Subscribe to my RSS feed or enter your e-mail on the top left to get updates by e-mail.

I am an affiliate with a number of sites, and I am always on the hunt for new affiliate programs to promote.

So I have no problem getting emails from affiliate programs asking me to join.

But recently, I got an email from an affiliate manager who was following up after I didn’t accept his invitation to join an affiliate program that had no relevance to my audience.

I kindly replied no thank you.

An hour later, he sends me an email asking what would make me more interested about his program, and he listed reasons why I should join.

I responded that relevance to my audience is my greatest concern. The affiliate program wouldn’t work for me, so again, no thanks.

Another email from him telling me that the program was really a good fit for my audience.

He was really trying my patience at this point. Another cordial reply from me that I’m not interested.

Nothing was dissuading this guy. I got a fourth email urging me to give their offer a two month test – NO STRINGS ATTACHED!

Clearly he wasn’t hearing me. And I do think there are strings attached – he wanted me to dedicate my real estate for an offer I was confident would not perform for me.

I’d had enough. I told him if he wanted to be on my site, I’d sell him space on a CPM. I figured that was the final chapter.

A week passed and he comes back like an affiliate manager zombie.

He let me know that he got together with his “Executive Management Team” and they determined that the CPM arrangement wouldn’t work for them.

Really? I never would have imagined. I thought that would be a clue I was not interested.

This time I didn’t respond to him. But he followed up an hour later with an essay on why we should work together and make great money.

No meant no the first time. The sixth email will go unanswered, too.

So anyway, I will never join his affiliate program and I never want to hear from him again.

At the end of my video tribute to this affiliate manager, I get a little worked up and drop an F-bomb on him.

Sorry, Jangro.

    funny!
It would’ve spam-filtered it by the 2nd email.

I like the f-bombs, especially the bit on geekcast 13 with the guy who re-pubed your blog post.

    Sorry, Jangro.

Since you won’t be promoting their program, let me tell you how you can make millions more promoting wedding favors! Your site is so relevant to wedding favors I just know we can make this work. :-)

LOL – wow if he put all that misdirected effort into useful activity his program would likely be doing quite well!
