I recently read the book, WordPress for Business Bloggers, and as a user of WordPress for years, it wasn’t really useful.
However, I think it would be a great resource for somebody who is just getting into WordPress and wants to start up a blog.
The book covers the basics and serves as a good primer on the terminology, options, and getting the most out of WordPress.
I was glad to see that chapter 10 was focused on monetizing a blog. This chapter doesn’t delve deep into affiliate marketing, but it gives a quick overview on using AdSense, Amazon, and various widgets to monetize a blog.
It’s a little pricey at $39.99 (list price), but for those new to blogging, it’s worth the price, rather than trying to find all of this information in blogs and forums.

Your Message@Shawn Collins:
I agree…I have tons of ‘how to’ books on Wordpress and blogging in business and it’s amazing how they are always so handy when you need to quick look something up or a blogger friend has a question…plus really decent manuals are perfect to be handed down to newbies, which I often do.

Hi Raman -
Keep an eye on the Affiliate Summit blog at http://www.affiliatesummit.com/blog/ for details in the near future on submitting a speaker proposal for Affiliate Summit West 2010.
Hey Shawn,
I am an wordpress guru, have been working with wordpress and using it in almost all my blogs. I have developed more than 10+ decent wordpress plugins and more than 30+ wordpress themes. I really want to speak at ASW10 about wordpress and how easy it is to use it for affiliate marketing.
I guess you are listening to me…

I think the outdated issue will matter 6 months or a year from now, but the information is still very relevant for somebody just getting into it for the first time now.
Yes, this seems to be a very basic book. I think part of the problem is also that books like this become rapidly outdated. WordPress is just evolving too quickly for authors to keep up.
I may have to give this a read, for new bloggers i deffinately recoment the pro-blogger book, based on problogger.net by Darren Rowse, its a must read! you can find it on my own blog.
