Q: Why would anyone go to an affiliate site when they can just go to the actual company site directly?
A: I’d say the answer there is relatively simple… it’s all about the affiliate site adding value to the equation.
There are plenty of affiliate sites that don’t add any value, and it’s a shame any of them ever get indexed in the search engines.
But affiliates should endeavor to provide quality content or some other reason for people to go to their site, and then the affiliate should be pre-selling the product or service they are promoting.
Affiliate sites should be solving a problem, whether it be directly or indirectly.
Otherwise, there is no real reason for some affiliate sites to exist, and the customers would be better served going straight to the company sites.

Pre-selling… definitely a key role of a successful affiliate marketers. I often consider our affiliates as our virtual sales force. Our affiliate program simply makes tracking links available for affiliate marketers to monetize their efforts with our offers.
Hi Anthony -
Sorry, but I can’t provide site reviews. If you have any general affiliate marketing questions, please ask them at http://www.askshawncollins.com and I will answer them on my blog.
I’m very happy I came across this post. It helped me understand that I am doing the right thing. I’ve had some success in the past weeks, but have steadily started slipping. I am adding value. I feel like that’s all that matters.
http://www.ZeroFrictionMarketingMaster.com –> That’s my review site. If you could give me any feedback that would make it better, I could make more money. I’m already on top of Google for the product name…I’d like people to see how I got there…no biggie to me.
Thanks Shawn,
Anthony Luth
Heather if you simply Google wedding coupons or wedding store coupons like searches in Google you will surely find something to look at. Hey this could bring some affiliate sites some clicks!
Very good answer Shawny!
I am hesitant to share examples, since I don’t want to out anybody’s site who would prefer to remain under the radar.
oops…. missed out the word ‘know’ in the last line – lol
How about giving us an example of a ‘GREAT’ affiliate site, Shawn? I have a friend who is creating a wedding site & I know she’d like to what you (and others) consider to be really effective.
Because they like the site, they got deals from there previously, they found a coupon there, they know the affiliate, they found it in the search engines…lots if reasons!
