The user generated media thing is fun and interesting and accessible. Anybody can blog, podcast, make videos, etc. But is that good or bad?
Jim Kukral mused today that he’s got Internet and Web 2.0 overload, and I’ve got to say I sort of agree.
I was thinking about the places where I feel compelled to maintain a presence these days. Of course, there is my main blog. But then I’m on the Affiliate Summit Social Network, BUMPzee!, Flickr, Magnify.net, MySpace, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube, and probably some other places.
I’m more active in some places than others. I join anything that’s intriguing, and over time I anticipate that I’ll abandon more communities and widgets than I retain.
There’s no cost and no barrier to entry. I imagine this is going to lead to a whole bunch of ghost towns at some point, as we’ll each have to eventually know when to say when.
