Video Ads in Google Video

by on December 6, 2006

I’ve been thinking a lot about how affiliates might leverage video in the near future, and it looks like Google (GOOG) has already started rolling out video ads within videos on Google Video.

I came across an ad on a video called How to Make a Video by Tim Carter of AskTheBuilder.com.

It’s a 15-second spot at the one minute mark of the video.

I checked my Google AdWords account, and I only see options to create video ads in the typical sizes run by AdSense affiliates:

Inline rectangle ad: 300×225 or 300×250
Square ad: 250×225 or 250×250
Large rectangle ad: 336×252 or 336×280
Small square ad: 200×175 or 200×200

I’ll be peeking around on this to figure out the way video publishers will be compensated. I presume it will be CPM. Anyhow, it could be a boon for affiliate auteurs.

If you have been to his site lately he has almost gone all video now. I am guessing he converts better with them then the articles.

Also I noticed he is mixing is own contextual ads with Google Adsense.

This guys is breaking new ground.
