The affiliate marketing world is abuzz over a report titled, “Counter-Attack: How DailyeDeals.com obtained top rankings for Coupon and Affiliate Merchant Queries on Google, MSN and Yahoo.”

This report claims that “Through a variety of websites using an “Attack of the Clones” distribution strategy, DailyeDeals.com and its network of sites have taken control of the query “coupons” and queries for Merchants who offer affiliate programs in Google, MSN and Yahoo.”

The report details how this affiliate apparently used blackhat methods to game the system and generate affiliate revenue from companies including Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, Dell, Dollar Rentals, eBags, Expedia, Macys, Hotwire, Mondera, Netflix, Office Depot, Overstock, Proflowers, QVC, Sierra Trading Post, and Zappos.

It’s an interesting read, for sure, but just who is behind this volume of information?

The report has the following in the footer: “Copyright © 2005 CyberSecurity.com (212) 400-7640 (Revision 1)”. However, I tried calling (212) 400-7640 and that number is not in service.

The site, CyberSecurity.com, is currently featuring the introduction to the report and a link to the PDF - nothing else.

I took a look at the domain in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, and didn’t see anything more than placeholder sites dating back to 1999.

According to WHOIS, the domain was originally registered On November 15, 1996. But currently, it’s registered through DomainsByProxy.com, so the owner of the site is hidden.

Why is CyberSecurity.com, who go to great lengths to expose activities by DailyeDeals.com, so bent of cloaking their own identity?
