Lisa Picarille wrote a post yesterday, “Videoblogging: Is it a Man’s World?,” about how the majority of video blogging affiliate marketers are men.
Revenue has published many articles on the merits of using video as an online marketing tool. There are lots of people pushing the video blogging envelope in the online marketing space - Sam Harrelson, Mark Wielgus, Jim Kukral, Shawn Collins and many others. What you should note about this list is not that most of these folks are well known in the online marketing industry (they are) but that they are men.
Stephanie Agresta, aka Internet Geek Girl, posted her thoughts about the issue on YouTube.
While there may be more male than female video bloggers in the affiliate arena, I think there is a bigger issue that needs to be addressed.
Hirsute video bloggers in affiliate marketing dominate the landscape. There seems to be little room for women or clean shaven men in the space.
We’ve got the likes of Jim Kukral, Sam Harrelson, and Mark Wielgus fuzzying up video players the world over. And Ian Fernando is just a hair behind them when it comes to affiliate video.
Sam Harrelson. aka Internet Geek Guy, makes a desperate attempt to defend the affiliate Teen Wolf look. Beard fail.
Come on, guys. Stop the face cloaking and join the rest of us fresh faced video bloggers.

Shawn,
“Come on, guys. Stop the face cloaking and join the rest of us fresh faced video bloggers.”
I love this comment! I also like a fresh face.
Mark did a video a while back with his beard shaved off. It caught me so off guard I was compelled to leave a comment on his blog about it!
I would love to see more woman out in front of the pack of affiliate marketers. Are they hiding? Do they exist? Come on girls!!!

[...] But for women, I think doing a video is all about vanity. I don’t want to generalize, but more often than not, women want to look our best on video and let’s face it - that can take some work. There’s doing our hair, putting on makeup and finding the perfect outfit. You guys just push record and go. Or put on a baseball cap (yes, you Mr. Collins).” [...]
