Optimizing Potential of Parked Domains

by on March 15, 2010

I am guilty of buying domains on a frequent basis, and never doing anything with 95% of them.

I’ve heard about various services that would enable me to monetize the majority of my domains that just sit parked or forwarded to another domain, but which is best?

The one option I looked over was CashParking from GoDaddy, but I don’t care for their payment structure.

They offered to let me to pay them $3.99/month to earn 60% of the advertising revenue on my parked domains or $9.99/month to earn 80% of the advertising revenue on my parked domains.

I am now trying out Google AdSense for Domains, but the results are modest so far.

One of my domains, badware.com, is pulling up ads for silverware and china, and nobody is clicking, as you might expect.

Come on, StopBadware – just make an offer already. You know stopbadware.org is inferior. And you’ve got your badwarebusters.org community – I’ll throw in badwarebuster.com.

But I digress.

Anyhow, don’t be like me and let domains sit around unused for years. Start testing different things with them, forward them or just stop renewing.

I am in the same situation as you are. I have many domains that I bought but dont have time to develop so I parked them. I tried godaddy, but am not paying to park my domains, then I tried sedo with no luck – made about $2 in 6 months. I am currently signed up for smartnames, which is free, and it provides you the option to actually customize your entire parked domain page. I dont work for them or anything but it is one of the better parking domain sites and you can even include your own google adsense code which is pretty neat. You can also optimize your parked domain with meta tags and keywords, and even pagerank. If you havent tried them out I suggest you take a look. I just moved all my parked domains from google to smartnames (I made about $3 in a month using google – which is ALOT better than sedo was)
