Opportunity to Resell Zhu Zhu Pets?

by on November 24, 2009

I started hearing weeks ago about how Zhu Zhu Pets were the hottest toy for Christmas, and pegged them as a good item to focus on for affiliate sales between Black Friday and beyond.

But then I started getting a sense that these motorized hamsters were going to be tough to sell, because they were going to be sold out everywhere. Dr. Robert Cialdini, who will be keynoting Affiliate Summit West 2010, even remarked on the Zhu Zhu Pet phenomena on Twitter.

I surveyed the various stores online, and all of them were out of stock, except one – I did find Zhu Zhu Pets on Amazon.com, but the prices ranged from $57.39 to $69.95.

I couldn’t see moving too many at those prices, since they were retailing (out of stock) for $8.00 on the Wal-Mart site.

At this point, my research moved to a desire to get these pesky hamsters for my own kids. Yes, I’m a Christmas trend lemming – don’t judge.

I tried the market for Zhu Zhu Pets on eBay, and it was a similar story. I lost a couple auctions for lots of four Zhu Zhu Pets when I wouldn’t go above $120.

The scene in my local stores isn’t any better. The shelves are empty at Target, Toys R Us, and Wal-Mart.

Zhu Zhu Pets Scarcity

At this point, I am not going to make affiliate sites around Zhu Zhu Pets, since the availability is sketchy, but if I can find piles of them in the stores this weekend, I think I’ll break out the credit card to buy some and push them on eBay.

Dear people desperate to sell their Zhu Zhu Pets at scalped prices – stop posting comments with instructions on how I can buy them from you. I got American Girl dolls for my kids instead – keep your rats.

If it open Toysrus at 6am on black friday, people will be lining up at 5:00am
or much earlier to get a zhuzhupet, for me is not worth it, however i will get it
from Amazon.com at retail price, how? simple, i will use this tool FrontLineGrabber.com
to let it monitor Amazon.com so

when the zhu zhu pet becomes available again in-stock at Retail price it will let

me know with an alarm and i will be the first one to buy it.

Go to the Amazon and eBay sites – they both have links in their footers to apply to their affiliate programs.

So where do I sign up as an affiliate.  I’m ready to sell these little critters.  I see no affiliate link on any of the posts.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at it.

You can use this tool to find out the millisecond Amazon gets them back in stock at $9.99, instead of paying ~$50 as these 3rd party Amazon Resellers are trying to push them out for – http://www.Dig4Me.com

I used this last year to “secure” my kids prezzie’s on Amazon, and it saved me a bomb.

If you can managed to get enough of them from Amazon themselves at $9.99 then its possible to resell them on eBay etc., but time is running out!
