OpenX OnRamp is Dead

I started using OpenX as an ad server for my affiliate ads way, way back. I’m talking back in the days when they were called phpAdsNew.

So it’s sad and inconvenient to see them shutting down OpenX OnRamp today.

They initially announced it back on February 12, 2013, but I missed it then, and just saw their email earlier this week about it.

There is an option to upgrade to their paid OpenX Enterprise version.

But I won’t be doing that, because I had been meaning to transition away from the platform for a while, but was just too lazy to do it.

I liked what it did, but always found it unnecessarily complicated, especially when compared to the ad serving plugins that have come out over the years for WordPress.

So, you might see some dead ad spots around my sites as I get this all in order.

I am moving everything over to OIO Publisher, which is an easy to use WordPress plugin for managing ads.

OIO Publisher is a premium (paid) plugin, but it’s worth it (we’ve been using it on some of the Affiliate Summit sites for a while), and they currently have a 10% discount code through the end of March: SPR13-10MARCH

Now I’m off to find broken images and remove that old code.
