I was just chatting yesterday with Tim Jones (The Real Tim Jones) and Mike Allen (Shopping Bargains) about our upcoming panel at BlogWorld Expo on “Affiliate Marketing Secrets for Bloggers” and we got to talking about serving ads on blogs.

We talked about using OpenX for ad serving, as well as the WordPress plugin, Max Banner Ads.

The conversation was pretty much about how OpenX was more powerful, but Max Banner Ads is easier.

Well, good news for any affiliates who have wanted to try out OpenX but found it to be a bit intimidating – they now have a WordPress plugin.

These ‘phase one’ prototypes have been designed with simplicity in mind, but they already answer the most common integration request by making it easier to integrate ad tags into your website templates using the native content management system functionality.

The OpenX plugin is also available for Drupal and Joomla!

Anyhow, if you’ll be at BlogWorld Expo, be sure to come to our session at 1:15 PM on Saturday, September 20.

Well, I downloaded it and I know it's still very early on, but it has a long way to go before it's as easy as MBA, IMHO. You still do most of the work from the openx server and it only offers a widget to add to your sidebar, as opposed to the multiple locations MBA offers. At least they're looking in the right direction with the increasing popularity of WordPress/Drupal/Joomla! for content management.

I haven't looked at it – I have OpenX code straight from the program already in my blog.

Hoped I had good news for you. :-)

Like I said, it's good they're moving in the right direction, just have a bit more work to do. Thanks for the tip!

Also, just paid for MBA Pro, today, too, so I'm more hesitant to switch. :-)
