One Thing I Learned at Affiliate Summit

I got blog tagged by Anik Singal from Affiliate Classroom to share one thing I learned at Affiliate Summit.

Unfortunately, I didn’t really get an opportunity to attend any complete sessions, though I have read all of the presentations and the videos will be ready soon (stay tuned).

Then again, just like when I was in college, my practical learning came more from observing what was going on and talking to people.

One thing that really hit home is that it’s essential for affiliate marketers to engage in an International conversation.

There are so many people from so many countries that have great things to offer from the affiliate, merchant, and network sides.

While there were frustrations with xenophobia in the past, hopefully we are all moving past it.

In my opinion, anybody who is turning away business from countries other than their own is making an active and deliberate mistake.

Just as you should be performing due diligence with partners you work with domestically, do so Internationally.

A quick scan of the attendee roster from Affiliate Summit reveals that there are lots of people from lots of places – there were opportunities to do business with folks from Australia, Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Malta, Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, UK, and of course, the US.

And with access to the likes of Facebook, MySpace, Pownce, Skype, Twitter, etc., it’s never been easier to interact and do business.

Think globally, act globally.
