No Hearing for California AB 178

by on April 27, 2009

I just saw some news from Lisa Picarille on Twitter about California Assembly Bill 178, the California version of the advertising tax.

News on California Advertising Tax Bill

Lisa and a number of other affiliate marketers went to Sacramento today for a hearing on the bill.

More details to come on what it means that it’s “now a two year bill.”

UPDATE:

The bill now won’t be heard until January. And if it’s not heard by January, then this particular bill is dead, but not the issue.

good news and a big thanks to everyone working together as a team to make this possible. big thanks to you Shawn for getting the info out to the community and the PMA and Melanie S. for spear heading the efforts on behalf of the affiliates and performance marketing industry

BUT there is a ton more to do regarding the tax and other issues in the industry! so lets keep spreading the word and collaborative pro-activity

This is a very positive news. Thanks for letting us know and we will continue to fight.

This is a positive development but the issue is not laid to rest by any means. We should be proud of everyone in the affiliate marketing community who came together to educate legislators on why this legislation is so problematic.

Good news for sure! But does this mean we now have to fight this thing for two years?
