The Amazon.com affiliate program has a new MP3 widget, to be released in the next week or so, that really sets them apart from the iTunes affiliate program.
This MP3 widget plays 30 second music clips of an affiliate’s favorite songs or albums, which they can determine or select from the Amazon list of bestsellers by category.
And for affiliates who can’t think of what clips to include, Amazon is including the recent MP3 purchase history of affiliates on the widget configuration page.
Visitors to the affiliate sites just click the widget and they are brought to a page to purchase the song or album they wish to buy.
I like this MP3 Widget a lot and I think it will be a great enhancement for countless affiliate sites.
For instance, as the political season heats up and Presidential candidates elect their “theme songs”, this could be a great addition to a political blog.
Fan blogs of different singers and bands are a natural. Movie sites can feature soundtracks. Lots of possibilities here.
The MP3 widget can be configured for sidebars (120×300 or 160×300) or a larger size for integration with content (250×250 or 336×280).
After the MP3 widget is generated, affiliates are given the option to receive instructions for inserting it into a variety of social networks, blogs, etc., or to just grab the code to paste to their site.
This is great to see, as it provides a degree of hand-holding to newer affiliates and it’s a time-saver for any affiliate.
