Q: What’s the best way to monetize an iPAD blog, since it’s a new product?
A: I don’t want to pretend to be Nostradamus or something, but I just don’t see the iPad being a big hit.
That said, I haven’t looked at any data on sales or how it’s going in Google Trends.
But I just don’t see it being mainstream and being in demand. I love gadgets, and can’t figure out why I would need one.
However, if you are set on monetizing it, I’d suggest starting with a review of the iPad. That will only take you so far, but one way to supplement it would be with video reviews of different aspects of the device.
What you could do is to see what questions people are asking about the iPad and then create a series of how to videos.
Then, you’ve got YouTube as a potential traffic source (you can include a URL in your YouTube video description), and quality, targeted content for your blog.
Also, you could review any relevant accessories.
One important thing to find out first – will the Apple affiliate program be making the iPad available to promote when it launches?
When the iPhone came out, affiliates were not able to promote it. That annoyed me, since I had plans for a site solely focused on the iPhone, and ended up trying to make money on the breadcrumbs of the accessories only.
P.S.
Since I recorded the video answer, I went to look at more information on the Apple site, and I see it’s not even available, yet. But you can sign up to get notified when it comes out.

I ended up getting one, and it is a wonderful movie player and Angry Birds machine. I look forward to checking out the Android tablets and some lucky person can get my iPad on eBay.
With over 14 million sold in less than one year at market…I’d say the iPad was more than just a little hit. It’s HUGE. In your defense at least you did admist you’re not Nostradamus LOL.
Thanks, Steve Jobs.
The iPad was always going to be Huge, and it will continue to grow
Or you can monetize it IPad e-mail submit offer. We also have plenty of them. The pay is only around $1.30 – but 30 people per day will bring you a steady income.
You could sell iPad apps via the iTunes affiliate program too.
It’s all relative – every Apple fanboy I know has one, but how about the much bigger population of PC users?
The iPod and the iPhone were dramatic replacements to existing products, but the iPad doesn’t have that same opportunity – it’s simply not a computer replacement.
It’s a fun gadget for people with plenty of disposable income.
“I really don’t see the iPad becoming a big hit” -ha!
Hi Marc
Can you tell us how we get involved with the Amazon Affiliate thing that you are doing? I could live with $1k every 3 weeks
One way is subscribe to iTunes affiliate system, and Amazon product affiliate.
That’s reallt hard question how to monetize ipad blog/store, this is because there is a lot of competition about this and lot of webmasters want to be located first under many compepative keywords.
Thanks for the tip! I agree, accessories should be the focus when you try to monetize this type of blog.
good post – a good keyword rich domain name to promote as well would help too! Just FYI http://www.ipadblog.com is for sale for a short period of time….
hth
Each and every iPad owner will need an iPad case, sleeve or any type of bag. I started with Amazon affiliate three weeks ago and made over 1k bux so far. It took 2 days to ‘assemble’ website (url removed) and it’s not even ranked by Google
However, Yahoo! sends quite significant amount of traffic. Cheers!
I am hopping that with very hard work on Affiliate marketing, maybe i would be able to achieve Financial Freedom in 2 years time.-
