Q: Shawn, I’ve been attempting Affiliate Marketing for 3 years now, and have made 1 Clickbank sale and my adwords account just got shut down for direct linking. Is affiliate marketing something that I can make a full-time income doing? If so, would you care to share any advice on how to do so? I’m not used to not succeeding and I become discouraged at times. Thank you in advance.
A: An important thing to understand about affiliate marketing from the start is that it takes a lot of hard work and patience.
I guess you’ve had patience to be at it for three years, but the success hasn’t come for you.
Without seeing your site, I cannot judge what may be wrong with it in particular, but I have a free resource that covers the steps I take in setting up an affiliate site.
The site is called Extra Money Answer, and I am writing it in book form with chapters and sections broken down on the various things you need to do to create an affiliate site.
It covers everything from determining a topic to cover, getting a domain and hosting, driving traffic, and testing affiliate ads.
Hopefully this can set you on the right path. Given that the current site hasn’t worked out, you’re probably best off scrapping it and starting from scratch.

Follow the method(s) you used so far and create additional sites.
haha well said… i’ve achieved my goal of 500 dollars a month. what would you recommend me to increase my online income?
Courses and formulas are great… for the person selling them.
Wow. 3 years for one sale is tough. What is the site? Do you blog? You could make more money with adsense in a month on a blog than one affiliate sale per month! Must be a hobbyist/dreamer.
Driving traffic to your blog or website is not an easy task as it takes time. Marketing your site is key try article marketing, blog commenting, directory submissions they are all part of getting your name out there and noticed. Shame on you for waiting 3 years before doing something. I am crazy that I have only made one sale but I have only been at it for 3 months or so.
I would love everyone’s opinion since I think I should have had more success given the amount of hours each week I am putting in. Check me out now and let me http://www.myautoblogging.com

Its convincing for you to start online business, when you see people from different backgrounds making money online. Thanks for the video, its encouraging other people to start their business too..
Wow three years, that is brutal. There are lots of great affiliate programs out there. I would suggest that you try a few different affiliate programs and track your results daily homework is half the key. Oh and of course driving traffic is the other half. If you do these two things you should make lots of money
I am assuming it was more of a set it and forget type thing – I can’t imagine the site was actively updated over that time with such results.
Can’t imagine someone working 3 years on a site and only getting one sale. He must have picked a pretty difficult niche and not built many back-links over that time. He should try to find a different niche that isn’t as saturated and put some pay-per-click ads from Chitika or something else on there.
