Jim Kukral started up ScratchBack, a widget where readers can tip a blog, and I put it up on the left side of my blog.
When somebody leaves a tip, they get a link back to their site, which lasts until another ten people leave tips and bump them off the widget.
At the time, I thought it would be fun to make the tips just $1 to make the targeted, sort of advertising opportunity available to people with a slim budget.
But I found that the widget was getting dominated by creepy ebook ads who were running some dirt cheap arbitrage, based on the traffic I was seeing go to them via my stats.
So there is a new rate for the ScratchBack widget: $10. Leave a tip now and your link goes right up.

Great job Shawn.
Hi David -
They are nofollow if that is what you’re asking.
Are the links search engine friendly?
