Jim Kukral and His Crazy Landing Page

by on August 23, 2009

I just noticed a new landing page for Jim Kukral’s coaching site at http://www.thebizwebcoach.com/ is now hand written.

Hand Written Homepage

According to his new page, no new members are being accepted at this time, and he’s taking a step back from his old “boring marketing site.”

I’ve got to say it’s oddly refreshing to see handwriting. If you want to be alerted when Jim is taking on new members, you can submit your email at the bottom of that page.

Well, whether it converts or not, it’s a stroke of genius for PUBLICITY, of which this post is evidence. I’m sure lots more people are going to talk about it.

But yes, I would love to know the conversion rate of that page. If it’s doing well, I expect it will rapidly lose its effectiveness once everyone decides to copy it, which WILL probably happen if it turns out to be converting well.

Still, 9.5 out of 10 for originality :D

Wow! This is a great idea. I think mixed with a bit of minimalistic design attributes could be a killer Landing page idea.

Thanks for the tip Shawn!

@StephenGWills:
I am curious to see how it works out, too. But I wonder if people will go below the fold to see the email submission part.

I got such a laugh out of this! What a fun homepage idea. I would be curious how much sign-up conversion it actually generates. Alas, my site is more boring than his ever was and remains that way. I am still pretending that being too busy to update your own website a good thing. I know it is not! Anyway, thanks for the laugh. keep bloggin, you are an important part of our week over here.

@Prepaid Legal:
I would try it, but I have ridiculously bad penmanship. It was bad 15 years ago, but all this keyboard stuff over writing has practically killed my ability to write.

Frank Kern (or maybe it was John Reese?) did something like this recently with a sales letter… so did Perry Belcher… It’s a cool tactic for getting people to relate to you.

Side note: I dropped my tablet last week and am really missing being able to write on my computer screen… Thank goodness for service contracts.

Warmest,

Jonathan
