It’s Official: Overstock to Commission Junction

by on March 11, 2009

There was a lot of buzz last month about the Overstock affiliate program moving to Commission Junction, but I had not seen any official confirmation until today.

Commission Junction, a division of ValueClick, Inc. (Nasdaq: VCLK) and the leading global provider of affiliate marketing solutions, today announced that Overstock.com, one of the most popular online retailers of discounted name-brand merchandise, has chosen Commission Junction as a provider of affiliate marketing solutions.

“Commission Junction is proud that we were chosen to help an industry leader like Overstock continue to strategically grow its affiliate marketing program,” said Kerri Pollard, General Manager of Commission Junction. “We are uniquely poised to meet Overstock’s need for real-time reporting, incorporating a search strategy that complements rather than competes with its affiliate channel, and the ability to offer variable publisher compensation tied to specific products.”

I’m not sure when the official switch takes place, though. Currently, the Overstock site still provides the opportunity to join their affiliate program at Linkshare, and I don’t see them listed on the CJ site, yet.

See the official release, “Overstock.com Joins the Commission Junction Affiliate Marketing Network“.

I have commission payments from some years ago still unpaid by Overstock as well as bonus payments which were never made.

Your Message@Geno Prussakov:
Yes, I saw blogs with that notification, and got confirmations from some folks about it, but this is the first “public” announcement I’ve seen. I am not an Overstock affiliate and didn’t get the email.

I should start getting more sleep.

Just remembered that there was a notification sent out by them on the 20th of February.

“…the Overstock site still provides the opportunity to join their affiliate program at Linkshare” — This part I still don’t understand. I am also hearing that the last piece of correspondence that went out to affiliates (on 5 March) hadn’t had a word about the move. I do understand that CJ is a direct competitor of LS, but in this particular case, it seems that affiliates should find out about this not from bloggers and forums, but from Overstock directly, and the earlier – the better.
