Integration of Email Marketing and Social Media

by on June 24, 2010

AWeber surveyed more than 2,500 small businesses about email marketing and social media, and they’ve shared some interesting results.

AWeberSome highlights from the survey…

  • Email marketing continues to bring significant value to businesses with more than 82 percent of respondents planning to increase their email marketing efforts over the next year.
  • The more social media grows in popularity among consumers, the more attention it will receive from marketers. Almost 70 percent of small business marketers are employing some sort of social media tactics and a majority (77 percent) indicate that integrating email marketing and social media is either “very important” or “moderately important.”
  • The most popular tactics at the moment involve spreading content onto additional mediums such as sharing email newsletters on Twitter (36 percent) and delivering blog posts via email (35 percent).
  • 54 percent of respondents indicate they intend to use Facebook as a tool to help build their email lists
  • Nearly 20 percent of respondents indicate that integrating email marketing and social media increased customer loyalty
  • Almost 12 times as many respondents said that email marketing ROI is more easily measured than social media ROI (61.46 percent versus 5.28 percent)

I’ve been mixing social media and email via AWeber for quite a while, and I love their service.

I often hear people talking about the difference between email marketing and social media, but your article tells that they can complement each other. Now business marketers are paying more attention to email marketing for its convenience, low-cost and far reaching targets, and there are many email marketing services. For example, if you want to promote new products, you can use Comm100 Newsletter. It can collect and manage the contact list, send free emails to targeted members and track the status of the sent emails. However, there is no doubt that it will be better to adopt email marketing and social media together.

Great to know email marketing is still growing and holding strong. So many marketers feel email marketing is on the way out. I don’t believe that.
