I came across a weird thing as part of the news around Google acquiring DoubleClick. According to the FAQ from Google on acquiring DoubleClick…
Q. What will Google do with Performics?
A. Performics is part of DoubleClick, and we are acquiring it as part of the transaction. We have no plans to dispose of it at this time.
No plans to dispose of it? Why would that language even be in the FAQ - was it a general assumption that Performics would simply be disposed of when the acquisition was finalized?
As a fly on the wall, I figured Performics was an attractive jewel to Google in this transaction.
Maybe I’m just not hep to the language of M&A.
