Lisa Picarille was back to join Sam Harrelson, Jim Kukral, and myself for what was probably the longest GeekCast at a geektastic 100+ minutes.
We chatted about the recent “anonymous” hate site that focused on the GeekCast crew, which was authored by “Marky Zarc.”
Hint for unhinged haters - have the sense to cover your tracks. We identified “Marky Zarc” in short order and the site quickly disappeared. The funniest thing about the whole episode is the EPC of the affiliate program this guy manages. (Can I get a rim-shot?)
Lisa complains about not being singled out on the site. Future haters take note - be sure to include Lisa.
We also touched on Twitter, and Jim announces that Twitter Me This is up for sale for anybody that wants a very hands-on project that will likely never be profitable.
Plus, how media consumption is changing with watching TV online and music being given away for free (and donations) by well known bands. I am old fashioned and still buy CDs in stores, though I buy most of my music online.
The upcoming BlogWorldExpo, the new BrightKite mobile social network, and using social media to spread the word about Affiliate Summit 2008 East are also part of the conversation.
Warning: Lisa and Jim leave after an hour or so, and talk shifts to the Presidential election. No geek content after this point, unless you’re a political geek.
After the show, Sam and I discussed a separate podcast on politics. Any interest from one Democrat and one Republican for some good spirited, weekly debate?
Anyhow, the show ends with a wager over the net percentage points that Obama was going to win in the Indiana and North Carolina primaries.
I predicted it would be a total of 2% and was disastrously wrong.
So I made a $50 donation to The LEAGUE, which is the official charity of Affiliate Summit 2008 East.
