Fatblogging in a Snuggie

by on February 17, 2009

This installment of Affiliate Fatblogging marks the first time I was wearing a Snuggie while delivering my update.

I was at Target for some stuff today and saw the “As Seen on TV” area, and just couldn’t resist the Snuggie this time. Despite the fact that people laughed at me in line, I am proud of my Snuggie, and my kids have been taking turns enjoying the “super soft fleece.”

The Snuggie is a Big Hit in My House

Anyhow, I’m back in the right direction for losing some weight with discipline as far as regular exercise and diet.

One change in my day-to-day exercise plan is that I’m moving on from the local gym to a new Lifetime Fitness, which is a chain with 85 locations in 19 states.

The place is fantastic and such a change of pace from my current gym. In addition to a humongous room of exercise equipment, they’ve got really nice indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, squash courts, basketball courts, rock climbing, and more. Not to mention a cafe with WiFi for some after workout affiliate action.

Oh yeah, and a spa, too.

I really need to check out squash. I used to play raquetball and loved it, but never had much of an interest in squash. When I worked at a gym in college, the guys that played squash were always grad students with unkempt beards. But I think the sport is ready for me now.

The really cool thing is that a lot of the facilities are open 24 hours a day, so I can go in and get some exercise during the weird hours I keep when I am feeling frustrated with some project I’m working on.

Also, I’ve been using equipment in the gym without any guidance to this point. But I’ve got a “FitPoint Assessment” appointment next week at the new gym, so they can analyze where I am (Height, Weight, BMI, Flexibility, VO2 Max, Strength) and point me in the right direction.

The one thing that frustrates me about this gym and any other is that the TVs have audio on FM frequencies and my iPod Touch cannot tune into this audio. Time to get an old school radio, I guess.

Off to the gym.

Starting weight: 225
Current weight: 223

@Debi Rabin:
Hey Debi -

I actually just blogged about this at http://blog.affiliatetip.com/archives/snuggie-pub-crawl-powered-by-affiliate-links/

They are using an affiliate link on the site – interesting ploy to sell Snuggies.

Your MessageShawn; Today on KROQ FM (biggest rock station in LA) they had a guest talking about Snuggie Bar hopping. Apparently several cities including Chicago and LA will be having an event where you wear your snuggie and drink – IN PUBLIC!! I can’t wait to see the YouTube video of people tripping on their snuggies after imbibing a few too many. And what do you wear under your Snuggie? It’s just too much to think about…

Snuggie has really taken America by storm! It’s definitely one ML’s high converting offers! I’m tempted to buy one myself!

Who would have thought that this thing would have become a viral hit? I have to admit that I always smile when I see the ad. Remember all of the Billy Mays commercials? On my site (linked here) I made a small list with links to his stuff. Now those are funny!

Hey Shawn – you’re too funny in your Snuggie confidence! I love it! I’ve been thinking I might want one of those things myself! My Shawn (my 14yr old) walked by while the vid was playing and said, “Oh yeah, those things are on TV, they’re cool!” He’s not one of those too-cool-for-skool teens, tho – that’d be his big brother! LOL!

I’ve been getting back on track with my weight loss, too. I’m halfway to goal and I decided this morning that it would kick butt to get to goal by May 26, since that is when I started on this journey.

My gym has FM radio programmed to the TV’s too! I don’t get that- WiFi…and a walkman? They don’t seem to go together. Glad your family’s enjoying the Snuggie- it’s quite popular with our Publishers. We actually talked about it in a recent news segment.

Is there a clip on WeViews.tv yet? Else I think a niche site on ergonomic office setups would be a good match, together with hermann miller chairs etc.
Looking fwd to listening to aff thing, esp if the snuggie was mentioned.

Your Message@andrew wee:
The ergo keyboard felt funny for a couple days, but now it’s totally normal to me, and there is no issue using this and then using regular keyboards, laptops and netbooks.

Most importantly, I no longer get pain in my hands from working.

I’ll lay off any possible bromance references.

Off-topic question:
That wavy ergonomic keyboard still looks freaky…
Was it easy to adapt to typing like that?

Your Message@Vicky:
I know you are just talking to me to get a hold of the Snuggie.

Vicky February 17, 2009 at 3:07 pm

You are very cute, EVEN in a Snuggie. Hope you want to meet me at the gym soon!
