Wow! Thank you for all so very much for the kind words. I did not think my idea would get such a great response! When I first decided to use the donut idea, I thought it might be received as a little old and cliché. Perhaps a bit like begging. But I then had an epiphany, and the interview ticket came to me. I am so glad that I did think of that, as I have been told that is the reason I got my foot in the door. I have already given the "interview ticket" idea to a friend of mine who is a airline steward, and he used it to get 3 interviews! Lets hope he nails atleast one of them, if not all three. To me, the more the merrier.

What a wonderful idea Clint! The idea of bribing with food is nothing new, but the ‘interview me’ ticket is much more original. We successfully used food recently while trying to land a deal with a huge aquarium supply company. We sent a box of Godiva chocolate starfishes (both white and dark, yum yum) with our proposal… Worked like a charm! While most of our competition went through the traditional channels, we totally snuck into the back door and clenched it. While our competitors are packing it in, we can now take a load off our backs and relax. Keep up the good work Clint!

That is fabulous.
Yeah, I have read about the ‘ticket’ concept. It is escaping me which journal it was, I think an HR journal or maybe Monster, but the whole concept has to do with making the prospective employer feel as if they need a ‘ticket’ to interview you, and as we all know, things that need tickets can sell out. This creates a feeling of exclusivity, act now, or you may lose your opportunity. I think it originated by someone who was looking to get a position in some marketing capacity for a Broadway production.

This story has inspired me. I used some of this brilliant idea, and added some of my own. I am looking for a job in the same basic area here is California. So each day, I would send a donut, and a copy of my resume to the office. I would also leave a " Interview Me" ticket, that would be punched for the corresponding day. Well, I did this for 5 days, and guess what? They called me in for an interview. It went very well, and had a second interview the very next day. And got an offer the day after. I am so happy and the people are very nice. They call me the "Donut Puncher Guy".

Thanks,
