This week on the Brandmouthing podcast, I talk about companies that use freebie emails like @comcast.net when promoting their business.
I don’t know about you, but I lose confidence in a company that operates online and cannot figure out how to set up their email.
It’s a fairly easy process, but even if you can’t do it, contact support!
Also, there are plenty of tutorials on how to setup email accounts and forwards.

I use a great program called Omnistar Mailer http://www.omnistarmailer.com to send emails to my clients. It is feature packed and there are no monthly fees. It is important to send clients information that they really want to have and do not send them advertising.
Companies can do the following simple steps..
1. Forward user@comapny.com to Gmail email a/c
2. Set Gmail [from setting] so that email sender will be user@comapny.com

I know what you mean. That annoys me to no end as well. To me, it gives the impression that they are either; too dumb to set up their own email, too cheap to pay someone to do it, or just too lazy to take on the task. If they can’t do that, how can their products/services be all that great?
We try to discourage the use of free emails within our customer accounts. Actually, if you are setting up an autoresponder campaign, if you insert or leave in a free email account, you will get a message like this:
“Notice: For best results, avoid using a “free” address at sites like Yahoo.com and AOL.com – Use an email address at your own website domain.”
We will still allow them to create their campaign, but we try to educate our customers about the pitfalls of using free addresses, as well.
I just got a copy of http://ePostMailer.com and I would recommend to anyone who needs to send out an opt-in email mailshot. Its the best free desktop based email marketing software I have used so far.
