Commission Junction reports their same store retail sales growth for Black Friday and Cyber Monday was significant in a year to year comparison for 2007 to 2008.
Further, in comparison to comScore’s recent announcement on e-commerce spending, Commission Junction merchants experienced far more growth.

While comScore revealed a 1% increase from 2007 for retailers on Black Friday and a 15% increase on Cyber Monday, Commission Junction saw increases of 73% and 39% respectively on the big online shopping days.
This success isn’t unique to CJ, though. As I mentioned last week, LinkShare merchants had 17% growth on Black Friday over their 2007 figures.
Additionally, companies working with LinkShare had an increase of 21% in same store sales on Cyber Monday, compared to their 2007 transactions.
Good signs for the affiliate marketing economy.

While not as granular as Black Friday or Cyber Monday, we have also seen huge increases coming out the economic sloth of late summer and early fall. For our client list November was up 35% over October and projections for increases for December over November are over 50%. While I think this gain will moderate as we end the month, it is still a significant month-to-month increase.
