There’s another player in the clickable video space that could be a very interesting play for merchants with affiliate programs. This tool is called Compulsion and it’s pretty sharp.
After a video is complete, Compulsion is used to designate specific objects (clothing, furniture, people, etc.) in the video as clickable hyperspots.
According to Justin Connolly, VP Biz Dev of Compulsion, it costs $50/hour to draw the spots, and it typically takes about two hours to do a five minute video with a few dozen spots.
When you’ve got a video ready to roll out, Compulsion charges either a revenue share or per click rate on the activity through the video.
Here is an example of a video from Compulsion. As the video was running, I clicked the necklace the woman was wearing, and it was added to a sort of shopping cart labeled “My Clicks”.

If I click the item in the “My Clicks” area, it launches a window for a site where I can buy the necklace.
Could be some tricky economics to pay both Compulsion and the affiliate on a sale, but it’s a slick looking system worth checking out.
