How are your business cards, or do you even have any?
I know some Internet marketers don’t care for business cards, and don’t bother with them. And then others have lame cards – terminally plain or really low quality.
Anyhow, here are some of the cards I’ve liked from the past year to help you get ideas.
This one was paper, but that made sense since it was supposed to be cash money.
You can’t really tell here, but this is a clear card. Thick plastic. It costs more, and it leaves more of an impact.
This card was interactive and shared a little about Eric Nagel, who gave it out. He likes Tim Horton’s coffee and there was a scratch and sniff coffee thing.
When you’re at a conference and gathering lots of business cards, it’s helpful when some have a picture of the person (I have a horrible memory).
And cards that are not a conventional size always jump out at me, whether they are smaller or bigger than usual.
Finally, there is the strategy to tie the business card to the business. With this one, it’s a company with a green focus and there are two cards connected, so you can easily share, or the person with the card could give away the half cards.
Personally, I like my metal business cards. I got these from PlasmaDesign.

Thanks for the tips….I am an internet marketing guy and I do care big time.. I have been looking for cool design ideas for 5 days.. Thanks
I am not sure that I need a business card?
Who would I give it to?
Who do you IM’s with cards given them to?
All my business is done over the internet and i specifically choose to live on a small island where the weather is great all year round and not in the main hub of one of the US states where they would be useful I guess.
Well yeah, if you don’t meet potential business partners, there isn’t a need.
Shawn, I don’t see my card here, how can the collection be complete without a penguin somewhere nearby?
I don’t think you’ve given me a card ever.
But I do have a penguin magnet from when Affiliate Summit was in Orlando.
I really like the clear card idea!
Great post ! And I am in fact thinking about getting my first business card, for SEO services for local businesses.
I absolutely loved the card with the Tim Horton’s enthousiast with the scratch and sniff coffee cup ! hehe
How can you forget about such a different card ?
But I also think that it’s a key factor into the psychological aspects of the people holding this in their hand.
We get to see so many different business cards (too traditionnal) within a month, even a week, that creating something really unusual will stay printed out in those people’s mind.
Thanks again, very nice post !
Thanks – I get so many cards, and it definitely has an impact if they stand out. I’ve got stacks and stacks of white business cards wrapped up in rubber bands that I’ll probably never look at again.
But unique cards, line the ones I showed in the post, are within an arms reach on my desk.
Hi Shawn,
Interesting collection of business cards. They all get the point across in many different ways.
Business cards were something I overlooked until I went to a seminar in London recently.
So many people giving out cards, and then me the fool with none.
Lesson learned. I’m having t-shirts done as well for the next one.
Pete
I’ve done a lot of t-shirts specific to conferences – this past spring I had one with a QR-code: http://blog.affiliatetip.com/archives/free-affiliate-summit-passes-at-ses-ny/
I’ve had a few with my Twitter name, and had a Reactee made up with an SMS call to action: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40683329@N00/578372465/
Hi Shawn,
Just checked out your t-shirts. They are really good.
Might start giving some T-shirts away on my Blog.
People walking around with my Url on them.
Hey it works for Nike. (logo is Key here)
Pete
Hey Shawn, thanks for using my card.
It’s too bad I let that domain go. I had it forwarded to my new one. Sadly, I’m not blogging any more.
But hey, you never forget a face!
I’ve kept a lot of domains I don’t really want, because I put them on cards or flyers. I try to stay away from anything but my main URLs these days.
