I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Las Vegas for BlogWorld Expo 2008. As I write this, the show is still going on, but I needed to skip out early.
Yesterday, I was on a panel with Tim Jones and Mike Allen about monetizing blogs with affiliate programs. I videotaped it, and if it came out, I’ll get it digitized and up for anybody who wasn’t able to make it.
Here are my co-panelists sporting the wares of VanityKippah.com during the session:
When I went into the speaker ready room before my session, I saw a treat – Angel Djambazov of JonesSoda.com, PopShops.com, and ReveNews.com had created some custom Jones Soda bottles for a bunch of bloggers, including John Chow, Zac Johnson, Jim Kukral, and myself.
It was an enjoyable show, as I got to meet lots of folks I follow on Twitter, learn a thing or two, and get to meet some folks, whose creations I use, in the exhibit hall, like Disqus and WordPress.
But the conference did have a serious, scary moment. My Affiliate Summit partner, Missy Ward, was motoring through the exhibit hall in her scooter, while posting a Tweet, and she mowed down Mike Buechele of 11|15 Media. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Buechele.
The moral of the story… Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive While Tweeting.

Another multitasking mishap! Careful there, Missy, lol. And Shawn's “on the bottle”; what a shame!
I'll be praying for both of you, as well as Mike B., too:-) !
Great blog article, Shawn!

Great blog article, Shawn!
I've got the video of the 6 bloggers it took to lift that scooter off you – I might post it, depending whether you press charges.
It looked much worse than it really was. I taped up my ribs and went out for the second half.
Hi Patrick -
Sorry you missed BWE – I am not sure if they are making the videos and presentations from the show available, but here is the presentation from our panel: http://www.slideshare.net/affsum/affiliate-mark…
I used an HD camera for the first time to tape our panel, and it was off on a tripod in the back of the room, so I'm hoping it captured everything well.
I'll check it out tomorrow and see how it looks.
Dang! And I already changed all my avatars and logins to Billy Bay!
I'm running on fumes – the guy next to me on the redeye was up and down every 13 minutes.
All fixed now.
Who's “Billy Bay”??? LOLOL
Shawn,
Not sure if you remember me from #ase08, but I am a big fan. I wish I could have been at #bwe08, but hopefully I won't miss anymore of these events. Can you recommend some starting material or resources to get some of the type of info that was at #bwe08? As I am a newborn blogger.
Oh yeah, I hope you are able to digitize the video you did. Let me know what I need to do to be successful.
