Best Affiliate Software for Downloadable Products

Q: I have a downloadable product that I want to market through affiliates. I’d like to run the affiliate software myself, instead of running through an affiliate network. What is the best software for tracking affiliate sales?

A: There isn’t a single answer there, as there are a number of variables, such as price-point, features you desire, etc.

If I was personally starting an affiliate program like you describe, I’d use either Groundbreak.com’s Ultimate Affiliate or iDevAffiliate.

Both have the essential components for running an affiliate program and are reasonably priced.

There are many other options out there, so if those don’t suit you, try querying the search engines for affiliate software and request demos from a variety of vendors.

There are many tools available in market. How to select a right Affiliate Tracking Software is always a question of concern for every new affiliate manager.

Currently i am managing an UK based online clinic's affiliate program (http://www.affiliatething.com/view.php?id=1805&...). We are using Post Affiliate Pro. I am using this tool for last few years and i am completely satisfied with that. It is an open source tool developed in PHP and supports various databases including MySQL.

It has really a cool user interface both for Merchants as well as Publishers. It provides the facility to customize in all possible ways.

It cost only US$ 99. Visit http://www.qualityunit.com/postaffiliatepro to know more about this tool.

I agree – there's no “best”. Features can make a big difference. Don't just go on price and watch out for free versions which are tempting but then if you get some traction and realize it's not for you, then you'll upset your affiliates when you move.

If you're mentioning idev you could also mention post affiliate pro as it's a close alternative and goes beyond 2 tier.

Affiliate marketing doesn't go beyond 2 tier, though.

Some merchants use a third tier to calculate a % to their affiliate managers, so it's useful for that.
