AWeber has a new feature rolling out today that utilizes social proof to encourage people to opt-in to your list(s)… a subscriber count chicklet.
The chicklet displays how many people are subscribed to a list, and it appears below the “submit” button for opt-in forms.
It updates automatically as new subscribers join the list.
This new option will be in the “Web Form Generator” and if you use the JavaScript version of the form, when you add a chicklet, it will dynamically update to add it on your site.
But if you have used the HTML code to add a form, you’ll have to replace the old code with the new code that includes the chicklet.
Now it’s purely an assumption that this social proof will improve opt-ins.
I’d suggest running a split test where one form has the chicklet and the other does not.

I think we all want to see that others are just as interested in the opt in and aweber is very trusted.

This is cool, I really find these types of widgets very useful and great for promotion.
