Amazon just announced that they started paying affiliate commissions on Kindle books on May 1, 2010. Commission rates range from 4 to 8.5%.
The Kindle currently has over 500,000 books, including 105 of 112 New York Times Best Sellers.
There is also a new Kindle section in Amazon’s Associate Central.
And the Kindle device has a new commission structure, too. The Kindle is now included in the “General Products” category and is eligible for 4 to 8.5% in commissions. Kindle newspapers, magazines, blogs, and other subscriptions will also be included in the “General Products” category.
Now there is something I can promote to those iPad people.

I completely missed this announcement but am so excited! A number of my niche sites are pop culture and I have been promoting the Kindle books even though I didn’t make anything on them because I knew people would be looking for them. This should be a nice “advertising fee” boost!

Seems like you would need to create a Kindle specific site with book titles and descriptions to make a go at selling a good number online. Reaching the Kindle owners on a generic sales site I would imagine to be difficult.
