I recently listed the podcasts I listen to on a regular basis, and there is one more I’d like to add: Domain Masters, hosted by Monte Cahn of Moniker.
I’ve listened to the show a few times streaming from my computer as I worked, but it’s been officially upgraded to the iPod, where I give podcasts my undivided attention.
Today, I was listening to Monte’s latest show where he had Perry Marshall (The Wizard of Google AdWords) on to discuss how make money via Google AdWords and domains.
Lots of good information, but there was one nugget that I took action on as soon as I returned to my office.
Perry talked about the importance of buying alternate domains and testing the various domains with each pay per click ad variation.
I never really gave any gravity to testing the displayed domain, but I’ll take Perry’s word for it.
It’s something that’s been on my mind anyway, but not enough that I did anything about it. I’ve been promoting Affiliate Summit London through Google, and was just using one domain.
As of this afternoon, I am now testing three domains (affiliatesummit.com, affiliatesummit.co.uk, and affiliate-conference.co.uk) to see if any happens to pull more than the others.
Speaking of domains, the premier issue of Modern Domainer magazine found its way into my mailbox today. The first issue is available for download.

One of the clients I am doing marketing work for had three variations of their domain name and I tested all three of them through three different PPC engines. Through the testing I came to find that there was one specific domain name that was the most successful across all the PPC engines being used. I then made the change to that one domain name across all avenues and have experienced greater CTR and conversion rates.
