Can you really make money in affiliate marketing with no experience? How many hours should I plan to work each week in order to have success? I’m looking to earn $2,500 to $3,000 per month. Is that practical?
As far as your first question, no, you cannot make money in affiliate marketing if you don’t have experience. It’s not rocket science, but it’s not as simple as learning the alphabet, either.
You’ll need to gain some experience through testing, failing, and figuring out what works.
You can’t just walk in blindly and make money. That is ridiculous.
The required hours are going to vary from person to person. It depends on what you’re doing in affiliate marketing, your know-how, and whether there is going to be a learning curve in the area where you are focusing.
There are a number of ways to be an affiliate marketer, such as working with a content site, data feeds, video, blogs, PPC, etc.
It all comes down to what you want to do and what you can do, your objectives, and your skill set. Some people might be able to make things happen in one hour a day, while others need ten.
When it comes to money potential, the opportunity is certainly out there to bring in upwards of $3,000 a month, but most affiliates aren’t earning close to that amount.
There are many reasons why affiliates fail, but it primarily comes down to a lack of time and/or money commitment.
If you have a wad of cash to invest in PPC, you can easily net $3,000 or more a month, but you’re taking a lot of risk, too, in that scenario.
You’ve got to be willing to invest time, money and resources for the long term if you hope to be one of the big affiliate marketing success stories.

It’s from ThinkGeek.com – http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/generic/5eb7/
They’ve got lots of good geek t-shirts and fun gadgets.
Also, their affiliate program is with CJ in the US.
reply to this commentWhen you say invest in PPC what kind do you recommend? I am really new to this and I am apart of the abest web forum, 5 star affiliates, digital point etc but I still don’t have the hang of it yet.
reply to this commentHi Ginene -
There are lots of pay per click search engines where you can bid on keywords and point the targeted traffic to an affiliate link or affiliate site.
Personally, I mostly use Google and Yahoo.
reply to this commentHi Shawn, it’s refreshing to read a post about internet marketing that isn’t full of hype and tells it like it really is. It makes a change from some of the others who tell you” You’ll make a million bucks if you buy all my products…just click here”. Hopefully this is becoming a thing of the past.
reply to this commentThis is the most upfront and honest answer I have ever seen on an affiliate marketing blog. Most of the guys out there just say yes and then you feel like an idiot when you fail. The truth is, it does take time and it does take great effort.
Awesome post.
