I recently wrote an article for the print edition of eMarketing & Commerce magazine, “Affiliate Marketing Is Dead,” and it’s now available on the magazine site.
Affiliate marketing is dead. Long live affiliate marketing.
But before you accuse me of being some Chicken Little type or just another clown infatuated with hyperbole, let me explain.
The way affiliate marketing was done back in the 1990s — and still today by some folks — is done. I’m talking about banners. It’s all about Affiliate 2.0, and you might already be late to the game.

See, video I can embrace but the mobile just scares the hell out of me, honestly. I really don’t want anyone marketing to ME via mobile so I’m reluctant to embrace marketing to anyone else via mobile.

reply to this commentI have to agree – banners have been dead for a long time and it’s time to get interactive if you really want to make money doing this.
Video lets you really connect with your audience and lets them experience so much more of the product or service you are promoting than even a written review .
On the mobile marketing side, as long as you get permission and are not abusive, go for it. If your product or service appeals to a mobile/text friendly audience, you’d be crazy not to.
