Count me in! At no more than 2000 calories per day lol.
Heart attack 4 years ago and internet has become my newest addiction but can't find a PC Anonymous chapter. I daily report to my VA Hospital team via a monitor hooked into my pc with bp and weight and other information. Weight has stayed rather consistent and near Shawn's 216 so I may set a goal of keeping pace with his progress reports.
Gives all us affiliate junkies another program to "share" lol.

> Lemme know what your plan is and I’ll start hitting the blog about it too.

Hey Scott - if you have a blog and talk about what you're doing there, I'll link over to you.

I plan to cover my progress here with frequent video updates.

Hey Shaun,

Congrats on committing to losing weight. 21 pounds in 3 months is very achievable.

Walking is a great start, but I would definitely move over to the elliptical or even hit the treadmill.

(Walking burns a greater percentage of fat over say running/jogging, but you will burn more total fat with the higher intensity exercises)

Exercise is great, but it's really only 20-25% of the equation. Adjusting your diet is where your going to gain the most benefit. Cut back the calories to 2000 a day on workout days and 1800 on non-workout days and you should be good.

Weight watchers is a good program, as long as you stick to it. That is where most people trip up.

I've lost close to 40 pounds myself and I'm starting to gain back some muscle now. It's not easy but it's worth it. Please keep me updated on your progress.

If you need some advice or motivation let me know.

Sure, I'll join you. I've been pretty sedentary the past few ... well... years. However, I'm changing my ways baby! Been hitting the gym 3 or 4 times a week for the past two weeks and want to:
- gain some muscle
- lose a couple lbs
- drop my heart rate and bp

Lemme know what your plan is and I'll start hitting the blog about it too.

Thanks - that's my rate for walking. I was going to move to an Elliptical because I am moving my exercise indoors (been wlaking outside).

But I suppose I will just go to the treadmill. Easier to read there since I won't be bouncing. :-)

Actually, I would stick with the walking. I've read quite a few different studies that have shown that although jogging/ellipticals/etc. burn greater calories in the same amount of time, walking burns a greater amount of fat. The key is walking at a pace between 14 & 15 minutes per mile.

Just remember, the real key to weight loss is burning more than you take in. Given your weight, your base daily caloric needs should be around 2500 (you can use a web calculator to find the exact amount). Since a pound of fat weighs 3500 calories, if you walk 15 miles a week at a pace that burns 100 calories per mile, you will need to limit your daily calories to less than 2200 to lose 1 pound per week, and less than 1700 to lose 2 pounds per week.

Right now, I walk 12-15 miles a week. It hasn't had much impact, since I haven't been eating well.

Anyhow, I was planning to switch over to an Elliptical for several times per week and see how that goes.

Any suggestions?
