There is a lot of buzz on Twitter this morning about the return of the advertising tax in the California budget bill.

Brook Schaaf Tweeted that Amazon will drop California affiliates if the advertising tax is enacted, and Lisa Picarille Tweeted that she’s headed to Sacramento to fight the bill.

Linda Buquet also shared some news on the California advertising tax, and LinkShare has posted another California map of affiliates that would be negatively impacted by the passing of this bill.

Just a couple months ago, there was word that the California bill wouldn’t be heard again until January 2010. At the time, it wasn’t expected that it would be added into the budget bill.

Now if I were a hackneyed writer, I’d go for the layup and make an allusion to Governor Schwarzenegger and his famous line from The Terminator.

Aw hell, here you go: the advertising tax says “I’ll be back!”.
